About Dr Jayant
Senior Consultant and Medical Director at The Straits Eye Centre, based at Camden Medical Centre on Orchard Boulevard.
Dr Jayant V Iyer practises comprehensive ophthalmology — cataract, dry eyes, refractive errors and diabetic retinopathy — with a subspecialist interest in glaucoma.
He was fellowship-trained at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins, in the United States, and was formerly Senior Consultant Glaucoma Surgeon at the Singapore National Eye Centre. There he headed the Clinical & Service Quality department, and set up and led its Global Ophthalmology division.
He and Dr Jason Lee co-founded The Vision Mission in 2014. It works to alleviate treatable blindness in Asia and beyond.
He is passionate about eye care in the community and believes in strong partnership with primary care providers, as early detection of disease is key in keeping patients healthy and preserving their right to good sight.
